what safety means to us

At The Art of the Dragon, safety is not an add-on, it is the backbone of every performance. Fire shows are thrilling by design, but they involve real flame and complex logistics. That’s why our safety standards are built around industry-best practices, thorough planning, and professional execution, giving you and your guests peace of mind.

We understand that many UK venues, councils, and event organisers require comprehensive documentation and risk planning before an open flame performance can take place, and we deliver exactly that. Our approach ensures that every show is both spectacular and secure.

WHAT WE PROVIDE WITH EACH BOOKING

dedicated FIRE SAFETY TECHNICIAN

A trained specialist is present throughout your event to manage every aspect of fuel handling, performance boundaries, ignition control, and emergency readiness, that way performers can focus on their art.

FULL RISK ASSESSMENT

We prepare a custom, event-specific risk assessment covering fire hazards, crowd safety, venue layout, escape routes, and emergency planning. All aligned with UK safety guidelines.

METHOD STATEMENT

A clear breakdown of how your performance will run safely, including setup, show flow, safety measures, and contingency planning. Perfect for venues, councils, or event organisers requiring documentation before booking.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE)

Our technicians always arrive equipped with flame-retardant clothing, fire blankets, fire extinguishers, and the other essential gear to manage live fire professionally and responsively.

INSURANCE SUPPORT guidance

While public liability insurance isn’t legally required for fire performers, many venues and organisers ask for it. We can work under our own policy or help clarify your venue insurance needs.

PRE-SHOW SAFETY CHECKS

Before every performance, we walk your site to inspect fuel storage, performer areas, audience boundaries, weather conditions and emergency access to ensure everything is primed for a safe show.

PERFORMER-centred SUPPORT

We collaborate closely with our performers so they do what they’re trained for, without pressure, ensuring confidence and competency are always front and centre.
